Application of Colour Theories and Principles
Based on the Principle of Resemblance, colours are chosen from analogous colour scheme: they are blue green and yellow green. Both of them are tertiary colours.
PMS318 and PMS372 are the lowest value among all. They are tints with certain amount of white added to the original hue blue green and yellow green respectively. While PMS281and PMS378 are shades with various amount of black added to the original hue blue green and yellow green respectively. In terms of saturation, PMS281 and PMS378 are low chroma while PMS3015 and PMS357 are high chroma. Therefore monochromatic colour scheme is also applied with blue green and yellow green in different value and chroma.
And PMS378 uses in more than once helps to unify the whole collection in a discreet way which is enlightened by the principle of Repetition of Colour.

Burberry Check Pattern
Actually the Burberry check pattern contains 10 colours instead of 4 colours.
Under monochromatic colour scheme, there are two khaki colours in different chroma.
For red, more accurately is rose. Under analogous colour scheme, rose is the base colour and three adjacent colour peach and red violet (which contains 2 colors of different value and chroma developed under monochromatic colour scheme) are selected.
Furthermore khaki, rose, peach and red violet come from the warm side of the colour wheel and develop under analogous colour scheme. The sense of harmonious is created.
Even black and white don't have chroma, the colour is selected along the gray scale show graduate variations.
Using warm colours with achromatic, make each other look brighter. This is the main reason why Burberry check pattern is so appealing.

Colour and Light
Unfortunately, even all the above requirements exist colour still can't be found on Turning Point. Why? Because colourless acrylic sculpture accompanied with white light bulb is white in colour, theoretical speaking white is achromatic.
Should the artist add some colour to the sculpture or change the light bulb. But Mr. Wilkinson strongly believes that the existing condition including the lighting can perform the mood of the artwork best.
What sorts of mood? Under the idea of colour symbolism, in western society white is generally associated with holy, innocent and pure, etc. Were they the moods that Mr. Wilkinson wants to express? I guess that is no best answers. It all depends. Based on the colour knowledge that I have, in human perception white is a combination of all the visible spectral colours: red, orange, green, blue and purple. Then Turning Point just likes white light which embraces numerical uncertainties. They can be sweet (orange), sour (yellow), bitter (blue), spicy (red), all of them are a mystery (purple).
I think the best of achromatic is that they leave lots of empty places for us to imagine and discover.
Meanwhile a French Champaign House Veuve Clicquot has launched a new product: Globalight- a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Rose encased by an isotherm bottle carrier which is in oval shape with adjustable pink light. In short, the bottle is surrounded by illumination. This time the mood of the pink light is clear: grand, charming, sexy, romantic and mysterious.
